Anokye Agofomma specializes in performance and preservation of Royal Court music and dance from Ghana, and High Life music and dance. Over the years, Anokye has expanded its repertoire by drawing inspiration from other West African drum and dance traditions. From complex multi-part rhythms to rich vocal harmonies, and with elegant and acrobatic choreography, this music and dance honors the wisdom of those that came before.

Who We Are
Anokye Agofomma is a Ghanaian Royal Court traditional music group founded by Ghanaian Master Drummer Yaw Amponsah in Seattle, Washington. Members of the group come from all different backgrounds and are dedicated to Anokye’s mission to continue the Royal Court legacy of the traditional drumming and dance of the Asante people.
